ERICA HARTLEY (SHE/THEY)

Artistic Director

Erica is a musician and composer based in Cheshire, London, and North Wales. Growing up performing in professional and amateur theatre productions, she has since found a love for creating her own theatre and music. Recent work includes new orchestral compositions, directing and choreographing virtual cabarets, and vocal performances including Handel's Messiah and Faure's Requiem. Erica teaches voice and piano as well as playing the oboe and organ.

Erica founded Work In Progress Theatre in 2020 and has been growing and driving forward the company ever since.

JOSHUA CLAYTON (HE/HIM)

Executive Director

Joshua is a musician and theatre producer based in North Wales and The Midlands. As a musician, he plays the Trombone and Percussion and works as a conductor. He also provides services as a Composer, Orchestrator, Teacher, Sound Engineer, and Video Editor. As a producer, he works across a wide variety of theatrical projects within the subsidised sector, alongside a large-scale summer festival and other live events.

Joshua handles many of the behind the scenes aspects of running the company, overseeing the production of shows, steering the company's work to ensure that it fulfills it's mission, and connecting with other creatives.

ARCHIE ALEXANDER (HE/HIM)

Music Supervisor & Director

Archie Morley-Smith is a composer, director and performer based in Buckinghamshire and North Wales. He found his calling as a contemporary classical and theatre composer after starting his university studies. Archie’s recent work includes a number of original chamber ensemble works and a large-scale orchestral work chronicling the journey of a lone soul travelling our galaxy as well as performances at the Bangor Music Festival and his upcoming directorial debut with Work In Progress.

MIA COSS (THEY/THEM)

Production Manager

Mia is a stage and production manager based in North Wales and Nottingham. They developed an interest in backstage work through watching the stage crews of amateur productions they performed in whilst growing up.

 

They enjoy working in all areas of the behind the scenes management of shows and also have experience in directing, costume management, video editing and social media marketing. Their most recent project was stage managing a university production of Into the Woods.

MEG WILLIAMS (SHE/HER)

Stage Manager

Meg is an aspiring stage manager from Wales. She has a master's degree in film and TV production but has more recently found a love for theatre and is excited to be working on new productions with Work In Progress, across all of our new productions. 

EMILY PEARCE (SHE/HER)

Creative Assistant

Emily is an actor and director based in North Wales and South Wales. She is currently studying her undergraduate in Film Studies with Theatre and Performance, where she found her love for directing and behind the stage work. 

 

She is excited to do a bit of everything from costuming to writing, directing to producing. She also has experience in videography and editing. 

 

Her most recent experience was directing a university production of Peter Pan.

SEAN CURRIE (HE/HIM)

Outreach Coordinator

Sean has worked on several musical production, including appearing in Dinner With Gatsby, and currently leads a choir in North Wales. He has loved musical theatre from a young age and hopes to go into teaching whilst continuing to pursue a career in musical theatre.

Within Work In Progress he will be developing our community outreach programme and creating new workshops to facilitate alongside our productions.

Alongside our core team of staff involved in running the company, we also have a brilliant group of creatives who work with us on developing shows. Whether that's our set and costume designers, our technical department, or our mentors; we couldn't function without the teams behind the scenes who support us in our journey from page to stage.
